I’ve never really had headphones or earbuds besides the free pack-ins that come with whatever audio device I’ve purchased or received as a gift in the past. For my iPod Touch I knew I wanted more.
I asked some friends for their opinions and got all kinds of answers… from sticking with the basic Apple buds, to buying a bulk box of $3 earbuds to $500 Shure e5cs. $500 for earbuds used with a compressed, digital music player? No. Never. Insanity.
After I tried a few different earbuds out I chose the
Bose TriPort In-Ear Headphones
. Not quite inner-ear earbuds, not quite canalphones… the Bose TriPort In-Ear Headphones are a nice hybrid. When I tried them out in the store I had to switch my iPod Touch equalizer from Dance to OFF. Dance seemed to be the best average setting for my included Apple buds but the Bose earbuds sounded best with the EQ turned off. I liked that. With the EQ off I got a nice, rich sound with plenty of bass that didn’t destroy the high end.
I thought maybe I’d get a better deal in Gatlinburg, TN while we were there this past weekend but nope, same retail price at the Bose shop in the outlet mall. I considered the price to be a little too expensive at first, heck I wasn’t even going to buy them, but my wife got ‘em for me while I was in Starbucks. Good thing she did because the more I use my new earbuds the more I know I absolutely love them. The included contoured, soft silicone tips (small, medium, large… the medium set seem to be the perfect size for me) that fit on the earbuds are very comfortable and the earbuds fit nicely without being too tight or too close. Even after hours of wearing ‘em my ears aren’t the slightest bit sore. Great sound. Great comfort. It’s all about being just right.
For those who jog or use their iPod while working out or active around the house or yard a lanyard and a clothing clip are included with the earbuds. I tried both out. I wouldn’t use either daily while just sitting around but I really liked the lanyard for days when I’m out and about. There’s even a leather case to keep everything together when not in use.
These days, for a lot of people, it’s all about the Shure brand and even hearing someone speak of “Bose” makes ‘em cringe. I’m no Bose zealot. I wasn’t going to even consider the Bose In-Ear Headphones at first, but a friend recommended I try both the Bose TriPort In-Ear Headphones and the Shure e2c models. I also tried a bunch of cheaper $50 and down earbuds from Sony, Philips, etc.
The Bose TriPort In-Ear Headphones
truly surprised me in how much more I enjoyed them over all of the others– in comfort and in sound quality. If you’re looking for some earbuds for your audio device I highly recommend that you at least give these a try. Bose offers a 30-days risk free full refund if you’re unhappy and a 1 year warranty.
