Mattel's Spineless Apology to China Loses Them More Customers

Now that Mattel has apologized to China and taken full responsibility for the toy recalls I just wanted to comment on the subject.

Cheap toys means cheap manufacturing. China isn’t making these toys for its own citizens. China doesn’t care. Period. It’s all about posterity and money to them.

Friday, Thomas Debrowski, Mattel’s executive vice president of worldwide operations, told China’s quality watchdog chief, Li Changjiang, “Mattel takes full responsibility for these recalls and apologizes personally to you, the Chinese people…”

Mattel, while far from innocent in the matter, has shown its true spineless, corporate mentality by apologizing to China. Mattel is responsible, no doubt, but so is China and its manufacturers. In apologizing to China in this way Mattel loses five children/customers in that apology. Zero Mattel toys will be welcomed into our home. Today. Tomorrow. Next year… until Mattel makes drastic changes and either pulls out of China completely or stands up to China publicly. That’s all Mattel toys, including all products under the corporate umbrella. Hopefully my kiddos wont be the only ones.
