My wife’s ex-husband failed a very important test last night. Before the ex realizes it he’s gonna have his kids sliding past anger and disappointment right into permanent hatred. He’s a controller and a manipulator. Don’t do as he wants? He leaves ya feeling like he might not love you any more if you don’t get in line. When I found out all of the details from Christy.. ah man, it kinda knocked me breathless. I know the ex is a jerk. Christy more than knows it. But the kids? I.. always felt they’d figure it out on their own.. some day.. but hearing that the oldest said the above last night.. makes me feel all yucky inside. Unfortunately the ex doesn’t do anything that’s physically provable. No, his work is almost magical– he’s all shiny on the outside, kind, considerate and loved by all that don’t know him well enough, but when no one is looking he strikes like a viper, emotionally and mentally poisoning your soul. So, now the oldest knows his Daddy is an ass. And that sorta sucks..

Birmingham, Alabama is holding its first ever “Stokin the Fire BBQ Festival” at Sloss Furnaces this weekend (August 26-27). Professional barbecue cooks and amateurs will be competing with $20,000 in prize money and trophies up for grabs. Organizers are hoping to make this event a major annual festival.
Festival goers will be able to sink their teeth into everything from barbecue chicken to ribs and also seafood with food prices ranging from $5 to $12. They’ll also be entertained with live music and children will have plenty of activities to enjoy– including huge inflatables, a spray water area, crafts and more.
I think I know where I’d like to be this Saturday…

I buy a new Coca-Cola script baseball cap every time I go to the World of Coca-Cola museum in Atlanta. But it’s been a while since I have been able to go and my current cap is on its last legs. I need a new cap! The online WoCC store only has one cap in navy or red. I don’t want red. I’d prefer beige. Someone, anyone! Help!! If ya know where I can find more color choices beyond red and navy please, please, PLEASE let me know. Maybe you know a Coca-Cola employee or I dunno, something, anything here.
Yes, I sound ridiculously desperate over a cap, but I don’t care. I’ve tried searching Google but so far I’ve had no luck. I want another beige cap. If I can’t get that I guess navy will have to do. Or I could actually go to Atlanta, but that’s unlikely to happen any time soon. Oh, and no, I don’t collect Coca-Cola items. Well, I do when people think I do and give me nifty Coca-Cola gifts, which happens a lot, but otherwise, no.. I’m not a Coca-Cola collector by choice. Don’t get me wrong.. I werves many of the items I’ve received but I’m not a collector. I just like Coca-Cola script baseball caps and Coca-Cola t-shirts. A lot. And my Coca-Cola jeans. Those were sweet. Best pair of jeans I ever had.. but that was a long, long time ago. Okay, whatever, I’m sane. Really. I just want a new cap.
Ack! What if I went all the way to Atlanta and all the museum had stocked was red? That’s nightmare material right there.. <shiver>

I noticed this evening while fiddling with the code for my mini personal site that someone’s been looking very hard for me. Searches through Google, Yahoo, MSN and others for my name and the city I’m from were all over my logs. But.. I didn’t have an e-mail address listed on the page so there wasn’t any way for whoever-it-was to contact me. There is now.
I’m so curious though who it was.

I purchased two albums today– Civilian (Boy Kill Boy) and The Last Kiss (soundtrack). I’d been intending to purchase The Last Kiss as soon as I remembered to actually do so. The other I purchased after reading about them and hearing a few samples. Boy Kill Boy is sort of like My Chemical Romance meets Morrissey.
But here’s the fun part. After purchasing The Last Kiss I wanted to edit the ID3 info for the tracks. So I entered ‘last kiss’ in the iTunes query bar and started digging through the information. While I was doing that, iTunes was also playing my new music. After a bit it starts to play this really great song. On checking the title and band I realize it’s not part of the soundtrack at all. The song is titled Last Kiss, the musician is T.D. Lind. I got the song as a part of a huge SXSW 2006 compilation that I’ve yet to go through and listen to. Very cool.
Now I just have to find out where I can get the rest of T.D. Lind’s music…
