Microsoft has posted 17 high definition videos of XBOX 360 games, all of which look amazing. Questions all remain on how close to retail reality these are but eh, we’ll see this Christmas. Sadly, the videos are all in Windows Media format so you’ll need Windows Media Player.

Tagged:George Lucas has an idea for another chapter in the “Star Wars” saga– a prequel to The Phantom Menace“. The tales of the Jedi beating back the Dark Lords some 88 years before Anakin Skywalker’s birth. So, of course, this would mean more Yoda. Lots of Yoda. Who cares? I’m not sure I do. But I haven’t seen Revenge of the Sith yet either.

This is my first column written on a Mac – ever. Maybe I should have done it a long time ago, but I never said I was smart, just obstinate. I was a PC bigot.
But now, I’ve had it. I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.

Tagged:Last year when I purchased my dual Power Mac G5 I did go with 1GB of RAM, but I left the default ATI Radeon 9600 w/ 64MB in the config. At the time I figured it was “good enough” for me. I didn’t play a lot of computer games any more, so it made sense. Then World of Warcraft comes along and I’m still doing okay. At least for a while. But as time went on and the game has become more popular and this and that have been changed, upgraded and so on in the game my frame rate has hit the skids. When I’m in Tarren Mill or at the crossroads for PvP my frame rate can actually drop down to 2. Yes, that’s two. I stick around anyway and I do the best I can and somehow I’ve made it to Master Sergeant. It’s even fun at times. But I’ve had it with that frame rate. Even in Ironforge my FPS can dip down into single digits.
Maybe the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro w/ 256MB that I ordered today will help. From what I’ve gathered in the WoW support forums I may even see 30FPS in Ironforge during the worst of times. Weeeeee!! I can’t wait. And gasp, maybe I’ll make it to Knight or higher soon in the rankings.

Microsoft is using Power Mac G5s to power the XBOX 360 game-play demos at E3. So…? G5 systems can only use a GeForce 6800 Ultra or an ATI Radeon X800 XT so what we’re seeing now is not what we’ll see in retail. Yeah? Yeah. Cool. Though, most people wont get that and will go on what they see NOW and think that’s all there is. So Microsoft should speak up, loudly, but they wont… because they’d have to officially mention they’re using Power Mac G5s.
